merino ram

Merino
A breed developed and adapted in Australia to the specific needs of the climate. Found in huge numbers is Australia but quite rare in Britain. Our Merino comes from a many-coloured flock in the Forest of Dean. A very high quality and unusual wool, it is available in white, soft buff, and pale brown and dusky brown.

For felting:
Merino felts quickly and easily. More substantial than Bluefaced Leicester, but too soft for sculptural pieces. Flat smooth finish which can benefit from added contrast from other types of wool.
